I received this book as an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving my honest feedback.
There wasn’t much about this book that I liked. The characters were wildly inconsistent. They had absolutely no chemistry. The plot was virtually nonexistent.
Reading this felt like reading a series of events instead of a consistent storyline. Chapters were constantly backtracking when they started with a new POV that I had no idea where I was in the timeline of events. It would take several pages before the chapter caught up to the end of the previous one. Sometimes entire necessary plot points were skipped or glossed over and it was hard to make sense of where the story was going.
The characters themselves were a mess. I didn’t get to know them very well at all and I felt zero connection with them. They had no consistency in their actions; they may as well have been a pile of personality traits as opposed to actual people. Belle was constantly contradicting herself and her actions had very little reasoning behind them. Michael went from one extreme to the next with no rhyme or reason. And let’s not forget Nathan randomly joking about having cancer then following it with sike!
Michael and Belle had no chemistry. He came across as a one-pump chump and their sex was unrealistic. She hadn’t had sex in a long time then the first time they do, he shoves his massive joystick right in with no problem and instantaneous finish? Not hardly. I didn’t feel any attachment or spark between these two and it made for tedious reading. They didn’t fit together at all; their relationship felt forced and unnatural. Honestly, Belle had more chemistry with Ty than anyone else in this story.
This one wasn’t for me. I didn’t get on with it well at all, and I’m sorry to say that it was such a huge misstep.
