This was my first read by Natalie, and I feel like I missed out on a lot of context by not having read the books that a lot of the characters came from. There wasn’t much detail about those character here since you’d have gotten all that info about them when you read their series, so it made the characters a little hard to follow.
Certain things felt repetitive throughout the story. It seemed like I was reading the same or similar description often or that the same information got stated over and over. I’m also not a huge fan of overuse of pet names in a relationship. I don’t mind pet names in general, but it gets annoying to read if almost every sentence has one in it.
Lila and Hollis were cute together, though I thought the adoption idea came a little quick. With as much time and effort you have to go through in the Courts to do an adoption, Lila agreed to it really quickly for someone she just met and didn’t really know. I love a protective alpha male, though, so Hollis was a fun character.
All in all, I think this may have gone a little better if I’d read the series that a lot of these characters are from. At least then I would’ve understood the context and the nuances a little better. Thank you to Natalie for giving me a copy of this to read!
