Her Independence Day follows Winona Wren, a young woman breaking away from her abusive boyfriend. Her brother lets her stay at his place until she gets on her feet, but he forgot that his four hot military buddies are currently staying there, too…
This was cute! Poor Win couldn’t catch a break for a while, but I loved how strong she ended up being. She really grew a lot over the course of the book, and I enjoyed reading her character. She was down-to-earth and knew when to step back and let someone else handle a dangerous situation, but she was also brave and determined to protect her loved ones no matter what.
I did think the action seemed to come a bit out of nowhere. Everything was calm, and then things started randomly happening, and it all flew from there. I’d have liked to see a little more lead up to the drama and a little more character depth for the villain, but it was still a really fun story to read. Not much spice all things considered, but I enjoyed the story nonetheless.
