You know, I was expecting this to be a touch more extreme, truth be told. There were definitely graphic elements to this story, but parts of it felt more like an afterthought. Almost like the author was committed to a certain storyline and forgot they were supposed to be writing an extreme story, so they added in a couple graphic scenes to make up for it.
This was definitely an interesting read, though, and teaches an important lesson. Be careful what you volunteer for! If someone asks you for something or you run into a perilous situation, never say you’ll do anything or give them anything, etc. You could end up in some nasty situations unintentionally because you didn’t know what you were signing up for.
I really liked Hope and Rohan together! Their pairing seemed to come about a tad abruptly, but I liked how they interacted with each other. Especially after the rather unfortunate scene that I’m glad ended up resolving, albeit in a way I didn’t expect. Mick was the perfect villain for this story, too! Just sleazy enough to believe that he’s behind all these horrible things while still maintaining that distinguished, civil look. He really made this story, though I am curious about where he came from and how Flesh Factory came about.
I’m going to have to hurry up and get Aftermath so I can see what happens next! This was my first meeting with this author, but I’m invested in her work now and will absolutely take a dive through her catalogue!
