One Was Lost – Natalie D. Richards

3.5 stars

Finishing One Was Lost was a very bittersweet feeling. I loved the romance aspect with Sera and Lucas, and reading as they got together despite everything was really sweet. I don’t feel like we took all the steps to work through Sera’s relationship issues, though, which was a bit of a drawback.

I really liked Jude, but he and Emily kind of fell by the wayside a little. I wanted to know more about them and dive deeper into their characters so they’d be fully developed. They felt a little cardboard cutout-ish to me. There was also a lot of in-fighting between the four of them, which some were to be expected with their clashing personalities, but it was too much. It took away from the story and made parts of this a chore to read.

I don’t really know that the reveal of the person behind everything made total sense. The reasoning for it made sense, but not really with the context of the story. I’m questioning some of the logistics of things that happened too now that I know who it was. If the author was committed to the villain being who they were, I feel it could’ve been set up a little better.

One Was Lost wasn’t a bad book by any stretch. It had some really suspenseful moments and some good character interaction. It didn’t quite round itself out as a whole for me, though.
