Dark Things Crawl Out is absolutely captivating! It’s horror on so many levels, and I couldn’t look away from it once I started. I found myself reading faster and having to stop myself from skimming just so I could see what happened sooner.
The first horrifying thing came in the form of an extended stay in a slightly ramshackle hoosecow. It was cold (below freezing), dark, damp, and if that wasn’t enough….forgotten. Something has happened, and the men are left in their cells with no food or water and no way out. Literally, the thing of nightmares.
Then there’s the creature herself. I’ve never read anything like her, and she’s enough to make your skin crawl just thinking of her. The description of her and her children….disgusting! Major props to Magnuson for giving me the willies and making me make what were probably highly entertaining faces at my phone as I was reading.
There’s so many cool things in Magnuson’s book, and I’m very excited to see what else Magnuson and Horrorsmith Publishing bring to the table!
