Colours by C.S. Jones

5/5 stars

I’m going to preface this with I despise clowns, wholly and utterly, and now Chris has given me another fantastic reason of why that is. The very last image I wanted in my head was some reptilian monstrosity under all that face paint, so thanks for that! As if I didn’t distrust clowns enough as it is….

In all seriousness, this was great! When I did my interview series in March, several authors mentioned this as something to look forward to, and I couldn’t agree more. Colours is a very quick read, only about 67 pages digital, but it’s so good!

I love the non-traditional POV choice also! I don’t see many 1st person stream of conscience type of POVs, so this was a big breath of fresh air in the genre! It helped me to know and understand the main character better than a traditional POV would, and it was a fun new reading experience.

Honestly, I’d read Chris’ recitation of the phone book 🤷‍♀️ he’s completely charmed me with his writing style and storytelling! Indie horror scene….you’ve been put on notice. Chris is coming, and he’s taking no prisoners!
