I Found the Boogeyman Beneath My Brother’s Crib – Ben Farthing

4 stars

You know, I picked a really bad time to read this book 😂 it’s currently quarter to 11 p.m. and I was planning on laying down soon, but maybe I’ll wait a little bit!

I empathised with Rachel’s parents a little as I’m one of those people who operates best with less sleep. I usually average about 6 hours or so a night, but I can’t imagine ever mandating that someone in my house follows my same sleep schedule. Poor Rachel, having so little sleep for so long without being someone who can thrive like that would be really tough.

Everyone had such weird dynamics with their parents in this book, too. Landon’s super fanatical devotion to his mom’s authority and Rachel’s parents with their ultra-fixation on schedules was so strange. It made for an interesting experience with the characters, though, and a new perspective for Ben’s books.

Without giving too much away, the human element in this was really surprising! It made this scarier because it was easier to imagine something like this happening!

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to crunch some numbers and see if I have enough funds to purchase truckloads of cement to fill my basement in
