The New Owners – Jon Cohn

You know, I think if I ever start seeing ghosts in my house, previous occupants or no, I’m just going to leave. Forget it….they can have the house. While it worked out this time for Brad and Jane, how many times do people try to deal with ghosts on their own, then ultimately horrifically die (Exhibit 1: Paranormal Activity)?

I liked Brad and Jane. We don’t learn a whole lot about them since this is a short story, but I was really rooting for them. They’re newlyweds trying to make it through the world, starting with buying their first house together. They both seemed like good people (which I was instantly suspicious of, knowing Jon like I do. Exhibit 2: KAI), and I was glad to see things work out for them.

I love Jon’s writing style so much, and I know whenever I pick up something that he’s written, I’m going to be in for a great read! He really can’t write a bad story and has yet to disappoint me (Kaiiiiiii). If you’re looking for a quick, creepy read that’ll make you double check your closets before bed, The New Owners is a must!
