Brotherly Competiton – Sea Caummisar

I’m a little iffy on Brotherly Competition, truth be told.

Swapping so much between POVs made the story feel a little disjointed to me. I had a hard time connecting with any of the characters because right when I was getting involved in their thought processes, the story switched to a different POV.

The thing with the sort of but not really incest really threw me off also. There didn’t seem to be anything hinting to that in the story, so it felt like it came from left field. For someone who was supposedly pining after his sister and couldn’t love anyone else, he never acted like he felt that way at all until he randomly decided to get drunk and confess to her. This plot point felt like it was added later on in the process just for shock value and didn’t really get integrated into the story.

This story had a really interesting premise, and I wanted to like it, but it didn’t really hit right for me. I was left with a lot of questions in the end (what happened to Jade? Did she just vanish?) and a sense of unfulfillment.
