Playground: Child of Divorce – Aron Beauregard

Page 40 in Playground didn’t really get me, but Ready to Burst in this about did me in, holy hell. I was just thinking about getting something to eat when that chapter came up…..

Geraldine is a real nasty piece of work. I thought I’d hit the depth of her depravity in Playground, but she’s even more horrible in this prequel. I don’t think I’ve ever been more disgusted with a character in all the books I’ve read, and she’s definitely going at the top of my list of extremely hated characters!

My heart bleeds for the kids in Child of Divorce. They each had relatively unfortunate family circumstances but were trying their best to get by and make something of their life. To see that be snuffed out, especially by someone like Geraldine and that freak of nature, Fuchs, was so sad. Having read Playground, I had a feeling for what was coming, but it still hit like a gut punch!

And now I’m left to wallow in my rekindled disdain for the Skip-It. My ankles have a very long memory…..
