I think maybe I had far different expectations for what I thought this book was going to be.
Based of the synopsis, I was anticipating shenanigans on the set of a slasher sequel, but the sequel was more of an afterthought or an idea than an actual plot point and there wasn’t a whole lot of shenanigans happening. I’m not really sure what I spent the majority of 300ish pages reading, but it didn’t hit the mark for me.
What characters were present didn’t excite me; it was hard for me to care much about them one way or another. Though, I can appreciate Luke a lot more now after the last maybe 10% of the book!
One thing I did enjoy was the snippets of Cam’s book and his thoughts on horror tropes and how to survive them in a movie. They added a bit of fun to the story and made me laugh thinking about all the ridiculous decisions people make in horror movies and how horribly they always go wrong.
Unfortunately, this one wasn’t for me. It got too bogged down, and it made the story drag on top of not having characters that kept me engaged and active in the story.
