Wow, what a ride! Kevin always puts together some of the most interesting groups of stories, and Onyx really delivered! Let’s talk some favourites!
“Viewer Discretion” by Ryan Colley EASILY tops the list. I’ve never felt so claustrophobic in my life, and my heart was racing as I got further and further into the story because I had an idea of where it was going and I was completely sucked in.
“Golden Child” by Mark Towse was a ride! The monsters in the final stickers that Charlie was collecting stalking him made for a rather anxious read, and the ending was absolutely perfect **chef’s kiss** there was no better way that story could have ended!
“Twenty Bucks Each or Fifty for Three” by Veronica Smith has the most creative feminine revenge I’ve ever seen. And good for Joy, you go girl! I’d absolutely love to see an expanded version of this as she gets her revenge on Bryce and Tristan.
“The Ghost in the AI Machine” by Viggy Parr Hampton was a great reminder to always check the sender’s email address when you get a random unexpected email. I have a lot of sympathy for Kelsey and everything she was going through that led to her decision to use AI, but wow did she suffer for it. Never trust something sentient if you can’t see where it keeps it’s brain!
I could go on and on about so many of the stories in this collection! There wasn’t a bad story at all and it was an absolute delight to make my way through each of them.
