Malleus – Dan Abnett

Malleus had me so invested, it’s not even funny. I’ve become a huge fan of Abnett’s work while reading this series and I’m hugely impatient to see how Eisenhorn’s story continues from here!

I really enjoy Eisenhorn as a character! The character work and development in this book was an absolute treat to read as we watch Gregor’s slow descent into doing what’s necessary to combat Chaos. It’s so beautifully done and Abnett does a fantastic job of growing Gregor throughout Malleus.

I did get a little confused at the start about the time passage from Xenos to Malleus. It was really surprising that 100 years had passed between them, and I did struggle a bit trying to process all the events that happened in that time. That being said, it wasn’t a huge thing to work through, but it was a little confusing for a bit.

While there were a few things that I thought got a little repetitive, Malleus was a great read and I’m extremely impatient to start the next book, especially after that Epilogue!
