The thing that stuck out to me the most when I was reading Nothing But Blackened Teeth is why We’re these characters together at all? Each of them hated the others for varying reasons, so why were they on this trip in the first place? People I hate or who are no longer my friends certainly aren’t going to be at my wedding (whenever that is), especially if it’s some sort of destination wedding.
I’m also left with a lot of unanswered questions. I don’t feel like this story wrapped up well enough for me to have a good grasp of what was happening and why. I don’t quite understand what the big fallout was between Cat and all these characters that made everyone devolve like they did. I could hazard a guess, but I don’t feel like it would be a very good one based on the information I had.
I will say that this book was very atmospheric. Once things actually started happening, I was interested in seeing where the story was going to go. However, the scenes got to be a little confusing in places that made them hard to visualize. I’m also not a fan of authors using complicated, fancy words just to make their work seem more refined. I like to think I’m a fairly smart individual, but if I’m constantly looking up words and phrases to try and figure out what I’m reading, the story very quickly loses its charm.
I feel like Nothing But Blackened Teeth had good ideas, but the author didn’t quite know how to execute them.
