Bouncy – B. Sobjakken

2 stars

While I don’t think Bouncy was as cringey as Spunky, it certainly has its….charm. Featuring even more ridiculous terms for certain body parts, Bouncy follows Acacia, a receptionist at a gym, who is wildly attracted to her boss, Callum. She can’t get enough of his bouncy discostick.

I did not care for Acacia at all. I don’t know if it’s because we’re completely different personality types, but she irritated me far more than I thought a character in a book could. Then I got to her birth control scene, and that didn’t endear her to me at all. We have two very different opinions on how much input a man has in a woman’s birth control, and I’ll leave it at that.

I will give the author props as she managed to do what very few extreme or splatter horror has done: make me physically feel ill. That coffee scene 🤢 I couldn’t do it. Thank God it was at the end, and I could take a nice break after to gather myself and talk myself off the ledge of puking. So, major props for that accomplishment…

Bouncy was cringey to me in a not fun way. I didn’t get as much enjoyment out of it as I was hoping, but I’m determined to make it through this series, one way or another, so on I go!
