Oath of the Osprey – Lee Davis Jr.

Man…..if this is Lee’s debut book, his career is going to be wild!

Right from the start, Oath of the Osprey hooked me. Lee writes such incredibly relatable characters that I couldn’t help but be completely invested in what they were doing. I was charmed by their personalities and the interactions between the ‘dream team.’ If I had to pick, I think my fvaourite character has to be Virgil; he’s a gem of a human being!

The pacing of the story did feel a little off to me in places, a little slow, but it never made me bored or lost my attention. I wanted to know what was going on and had to stop myself several times from skipping ahead on a page just to make sure certain characters were going to be alright. And when the action ramped up, boy did it! If I got any more on the edge of my seat, I was going to fall over

One thing I wasn’t super enamoured by was the swapping between POVs. Personally, I don’t tend to enjoy that in a book as it brings me out of the storyline of what’s happening to a specific character at the time of the switch. I’d have rather have seen a different set up, but it didn’t bother me too badly and didn’t hamper my enjoyment of the book much

I really hope to see more of the dream team together! Now that Doug has a taste for the P.I. life, maybe he’ll dip his toes in again? I’m so sad to be saying goodbye to such a unique cast of characters, but I can’t wait to see what Lee has in store for readers in the future. No matter what, I know it’ll be on my list
