Kraken Rising by Ravi Singh

Kraken Rising is going on the top reads of the year list, for sure!

This story was tense in all the right places and I flew through the chapters trying to see how everything would be resolved. And a happy ending! Somewhat rare, especially in the manner it happened, for these kinds of books. I found myself really pleased with this one I was finished reading.

The characters were really interesting to follow, though I feel like Mara (who I assume is supposed to be the main character) got lost a little. She seemed to fade into the background with certain things and I wished she was a bit more forward sometimes. Pike really redeemed himself, until he ripped my heart out…..

The author must not have a high opinion of the US military as most of the military folk involved in this story were pretty incompetent. I did question a few of the reactions and actions of the military brass in this as it didn’t seem super realistic, but I’ve never been in the military so maybe it’s closer than I think.

All in all, a really great read! I enjoyed it a lot and am eagerly waiting for the next book to come out
