As much as I like extreme horror, I can easily say that this one wasn’t for me. While disturbing, the content wasn’t necessarily the issue, but the delivery.
When you spend several pages graphically describing infliction of pain then turn around and use a word like “vajayjay” by someone who is one of the last in this cast of characters I would expect to say that….it felt really childish. The characters themselves were pretty bland; you could’ve replaced them with cardboard cutouts with prerecorded voices, and it wouldn’t have made much of a difference.
Now, I will give the author credit for some creative acts of violence. Some of the scenes described were fairly intense, so props for that! The premise itself promised to be interesting, what with a dark web show and all, but I just don’t feel like it delivered as much as I wanted it to.
