I’m going to preface this by saying I absolutely loathe clowns. I’ve never been to a circus, but I’ve had a very healthy dislike of them since I learned about Gacy. This book just reinforced that hatred.
Every single person in that tent was creepy, though my heart did go out a bit to the juggler if I understood him correctly. I felt really bad for the narrator as well with the choice he had to make. It’s a hard thing to think about, and I think Ben did a good job of portraying those emotions.
I did feel that the narrator got a little repetitive at times and a little annoying to read. There was a lot of build-up in this book that kept me on the edge, but I never got that full impact punch from the big bad. I’d have loved to have the danger played up a little more.
I have a few remaining questions about a few things that happened, but overall, this was a fun read!
