The Devil Wears Nada – Mika Lane

2 stars

This book had a whole lot of words for a story that never went anywhere.

Agnes/Diablo was certainly an interesting character. Agnes is a down-on-her-luck receptionist who needs quick money so she creates Diablo, a bold cam girl with no names, no face, and nothing for free. We love a strong woman clawing herself back up by the boot straps! She quickly attracts three powerful men who just so happen to be her bosses. They know who she is; she knows who they are; none of them know that the other party knows.

Unfortunately, that’s about the most interesting thing that happens. The Devil Wears Nada is so repetitive; it’s like reading the same scene over and over again. I didn’t feel like the plot was moving along at all and that the author was doing more telling than showing. I wanted to see more of the things Diablo did online for her three high payers, and more of the things they did for her. I was hoping for a real femme fatale here and Diablo fell short.

This one wasn’t for me. There’s a lot of spicy bits, sure, but I didn’t feel the connection to the characters that I needed for those scenes to be anything but repetitive and unengaging.
